Raptors can be mysterious and mildly frightening to some, and to others intriguing and compelling. 

They are also at the top of the food chain and as such, barometers of the health of the ecosystem. Who can dismiss the DDT scare of the 60’s; the eggs of eagles were so fragile that they could not hatch, leading to plummeting populations.
